William's Story

I'm living back in Florida after 5 years in Connecticut. Can't take a long winter anymore. After graduating from college (Mechanical Engineering) I got a job with Pratt & Whitney and I have been designing, building, and testing military jet engines for the last 30 years. Have done some interesting stuff. From a career perspective the best part was being a flight test Engineer working on the F-22 at EAFB in California(98-00). Currently I mostly do engine design integration work on the F-35. Keeps me busy. On the personal side I'm married (second time for 12 years) and have one son from my first marriage. He lives in Huntsville, AL and he is also an Engineer. Some of you remember that I was into gymnastics, bowling, golf, and baseball when in high school. I still bowl and golf but not that often anymore. I mostly fish and scuba dive these days. I like to garden too but don't say that too loud. However, most of the time I can be found remodeling a room in the house. I have other hobbies and hopefully will get into them more after I retire. I aint working a day past 59.5 when that 401K kicks in. Although it has taken a beating lately. Also, if you remember when I was a senior I drove a red mustang convertible. Today, I still drive a R...Expand for more
ed Mustang convertible. Some things never change. I am a little heavier now but I was skinny back then. I still part my hair on the same side and still have glasses. Fortunately I still have my hair and I'm getting gray as the years go by. I have kept in touch with Rusty Boyette (my best friend in high school) over the years and we get together on occassion. He lives in NC but he used to live here in Florida. We played a lot of golf together back then. That's it for now. Doubt that anybody will read half of this. OK so now it's several years later when I wrote the above stuff. I'm almost 60 and I am retiring. Can't wait. My wife is going to work for a couple of more years so it's not a big transition yet. I have two grand kids now and they are a blast. Granddaughter is 6 and grandson is 18 months. The only other thing to add is I got back into cars, Mustangs in particular. I have an '09 Shelby GT500 and an '03 Cobra convertible. I have done a lot of work on both and win at car shows. the Shelby gets 700 hp at the rear wheels and the Cobra a lowly 500. They are fun and have been worth the time and money. That's all for the update. Turned 60 last month and now I'm retired. Wooohoooo!!!! Looking forward to the next phase of my life.
