Bill's Story

Life I joined the Navy right after graduating in '84. I was able to see a good portion of the world and also start my SCUBA diving odyssey by diving all througout the South Pacific in such places as Hawaii, Australia, Tonga, New Caledonia, and Bali. I stayed with the Navy almost 10 years, where I was fortunate enough to meet my wife Connie. We have three fantastic kids: Zachary, who is 20, Mitchell, who is 18, and Alexis who is 16. I couldn't ask for more. After getting out of the Navy, I was extremely lucky in landing a job at the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory at NASA. I have been there over 12 years and am a senior Dive Operations Specialist and Critical Systems Operations Specialist and Technician. Training Astronauts how to spacewalk for Space Station Assembly and Shuttle contingencies is not too bad a way to spend the workday. Things could be worse. In the last 10 years I've been chipping away at the education I probably should have done right after leaving Hastings, but I have no complaints and I probably wouldn't be where I'm at now if I would have done anything differently. ve just 5 more classes to complete my Bachelor's in Business/Information Systems. Not too sure about jumping right into a Master's program. I may take just a small break. My hobbies are primarily SCUBA diving (tough guess), motorcycling, mountain biking, and photography. My passion is my family. I don't know why I've waited so long to post this stuff here. I've been back in Houston since '94. Guess I just felt nostalgic. Hoping the few good friends I did have are all doing well. Unfortunately many of my memories from my high school days are not too great. Some rough times due to a family tragedy and a bunch of really poor decisions on my part contributed to a time in my life I didn't expect to get through alive. For those of you that may read this and remember me in a good way,.......thanks for being there. For those I may have hurt or let down in any way,.....I can't tell you how sorry I am. Life is a strange journey. Fortunately, now I always feel the best is yet to come, even though today was great. For all those that shared what good times there were,....lots of Love.
