August 23dr 2011 Update
Well my friends summer is almost over again. Its been a little cooler in Turkey this year. I just celebrated my 67th birthday
in Izmir. We have a Monthly Birthday at the mine for everyone born on that month.I am happy to say that I was the oldest employee born on August 10.I never really gave it much thought that someday I could be the oldest employee for any company. But now I am. Oh well the cake was good. I hope you are all well and things are good for you. I am down to 5 months to Go. And boy am I going. I forgot what my home looked like in Carson City. Oh I now have a great Grand son and he is to cute. That in itself is a good reason to go home. Cheers from Turkey Bill Crabtree
November 2010 update.
Well my classmates God works in mysterious ways? I retired for 4 months. Left Turkey April 2 and landed in Reno on April 16. Moved into our home in Carson City Nevada. How is retirement my friends asked? Everyday is Saturday I answered. Well we settled in and started thinking about all the places we didnt see while we lived in Turkey and really missed our friends we made while there. Can you believe it I was General Manager of the largest gold mine in Turkey with 475 muslum workers reporting to a Born again Chirstian G.M. Is that cool or what. The people were awsom. Terry and I actually started singing and playing my guitar for the company picknics. They loved John Denver songs like take me home country road. And Grandmas feather bed. Its funny that when you forget the words no one is aware because they dont speak english> So we missed Turkey and the people a lot.
Now the good stuff? In August the GM left the company and Terry and I were asked if we would return to Usak and that they would like me to return as General Manager. Whow to get to be the GM of what is now the largest gold mine in Europe again is a gift from God. So my friends my wife and I are once again living back in the historical land of Turkey until Febuary 2012.I will really retire then and turn in my Blackberry and change my phone numbers in Carson City Nevada.

Updated Febuary 16 2010. Hello classmates from the past.Well my contract to work and live in Turkey has come to an end.They have finnaly found a replacement for me as General Manager of the Eldorado Gold project in Turkey.The new guy lands in Izmir next Monday.I have the rest of this week then I leave for the USA on the 25th of Feb. I speend two weeks at home in Carson city Nevada where my wife has been for the last 4 months getting our house remodled. Kitchen stuff guys. Anyway we both come back to Turkey March 15th to spend the last 2 weeks as the new GMs consultant. Then off to Paris for a few days and finnaly after almost 6 years. Home ,Home,Home.Thank God. I served 4 years in the Navy. Went to work in mining in 1966. Formed a small band with my wife and brother.
Became a born again Christian after I met second wife.Stayed in Mining and traveled to Nevada ,Colorado and back to Nevada and the last 5 years in Turkey as the GM of the largets gold mine in Turkey and Europe.During all this time continued to play Christian Music. Was a worship leader with my wife in Colorado.and Nevada.My 3 kids also played music and sang. Now they are grown up and produced Grandchildren 7 to be exact and one greatgrand child that only lived a month.Live and love it in Turkey. The people are super.The population is 98% Muslem and 1% christian leaving 1% who knows what.Cellebrating our 38 anniverarary Monday April 27.
Still buying and playing the Guitar for intertainment especially when we sing John Denver songs at the company picknic in front of 2000 Turks that dont understand a word of English. If you forget the words who cares. Its to much fun.I had a great life and have been blessed by God. Going back to the USA inFebuary 2010. RETIRED in Carson City Nevada.
