I Joined the Navy in the spring of '88 to pursue new adventures and see the World. I reported to Orlando, FL in Mar Â88 for ÂBasicÂ. From there I went to Lakehurst, NJ for further education / training. May '89 I received my first set of orders to Cubi Point, Philippines. While there I served aboard the USS Midway, USS Ranger and USS Independence. While aboard the USS Independence, we were directed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Desert Shield. From there I transitioned to the USS Ranger in support of Operation Desert Storm. June '90 I reported back to the States and was sent to sunny Pensacola, FL for Aircrew Candidate and Aviation Rescue Swimmer School (SAR School). After completing all the required training, I was designated a UH-1N (HUEY) Helicopter Aircrewman and received orders ...Expand for more
to Pt Mugu, CA. in support of the National Science Foundation in New Zealand and Antarctica. During my time there I logged over 900 hours in Huey's. From there, I received orders to Millington, TN for Advanced Training, upon completion, I reported to Whidbey Island, WA and spent five years there in two Commands. I was fortunate to make an "Around the World" Cruise aboard the USS Nimitz in Sept '97 and the USS John C. Stennis in Jan '00, while aboard the JCS we provided air support over the "No Fly Zone's" in the Persian Gulf. Additionally, in Apr '99 we were sent to Aviano, Italy in support of Operation Allied Force. Jan '01 my wife and I went to Pensacola, FL for orders as an Aviation Rescue Swimmer Instructor. While here, I was selected as "Sailor of The Year" and promoted to "Chief". Currently I'm still in FL serving as the Gulf Coast Region Drug and Alcohol Prevention Counselor and loving my job.
