William's Story

Life I am married to my wife Julie, and we have 4 children together 2 boys Dylan-16, Clyle-18, and 2 girls Devani-18, Cassie-15. Along with the kids we have two labs Cheddar Bob-15 months, and Copper King-8 months both have finished there training and are doing upland bird hunting competitions across the west coast, first year out but both are doing real well. My wife Julie and I are moving back down to Las Vegas, NV. sometime between April to August of 2009. We have been paying a God awful extra amount on our home so incase the market hasn't come around by then we will still beable to have a gain in equity after the sale for a sizeable down payment in Vegas. I like Vegas, because there is always something to do at anytime of day or night. Even if you don't drink or gamble there is allot of other entertainment choices to keep you occupied. I was always interested in the mining industry (Ie: gold, silver, copper) that is prevalent in the tri-state area down there. If your interest is traveling, you have multiple Ghost towns near by between CA., AZ., and NV. not to mention Las Angeles, CA. is about a 4 hour drive, and Phoenix, AZ. is about 8 hours away depending on how fast you drive. The weather is sometimes fairly descent, mild during the winter compared to WA. standards. Allot of rain but at least not a constant and the winter is not as long. Now the summer's can get pretty hot in August but it mellows out really fast during the fall. The cost of living is a big difference compared to WA.'s levels in every aspect. It can actually be cheaper to out than buying food for home consumption, and fuel cost is about .35 to .40 cents less down there. Homes have depreciated in Vegas by 33% this last year making it possible to purchase a home for a pretty reasonable price. Hunting down there is allot different compared to WA. in that it has more areas to hunt and the animals and birds are of different species than what we are accustomed to seeing up here. Best of all the reasons is my body won't hurt as bad due to the humidity levels are allot lower, so less arthritic pain. School I was ext...Expand for more
remely bored with school and dropped out of P.H.S. in 1982 during my junior year. After I enlisted in the Marines (28 May 1982) I figured I better get my H.S. diploma so I requested to the service to allow me to finish school because of my age (17), so I went TDY (Ie: temporary duty) to Escondido Union High School in Carlsbad, CA. until graduation. Worth it!!! College My first year was at USC San Diego, CA.. I had a break in time because my assignments took me out of the states for awhile. After I reenlisted for the U.S. Army and got settled in I went to G.R.C.C. until graduation took a year off then finished my Bachelor in science degree from Central WA. State Univ. in Ellensburg, WA., Took a couple more years off then went to Univ. of Puget Sound until 1995 when I got remarried and left school. Primary studies included political science, and Law. Workplace I started my retirement August 17th, 2001, receiving a lucritive Federal retirement X3, in which I spend my time doing what ever I want when ever I want. Military I went into the Marine Corp.s in 1982-85, in which I was sent to Camp Pendleton, CA.. After my first year I was stationed overseas with Co. C 1st Bn., 1st Marine Regiment on a westpac onboard the USS Monticello, it was pretty cool we saw over 28 different countries before I was even 19. After that I reenlisted into the National Guard for a year so I could get cross trained over to the U.S. Army, that was 1986. After this I was activated on full duty and stationed at Ft. Lewis with the 9th ID until I finished my service schools then was reassigned to Bravo Co. 2nd Bn. 75th Ranger Regiment until I was injured on Dec. 20th 1989 "OPERATION JUST CAUSE" in Panama, I basically stayed on medical hold at Madigan Army Medical Center in rehab. until August 1990 then I was reassigned to a rear area operations center (214th RAOC) as the Liason NCO during Desert Storm. In 1991 transferred over to the G-3 Training units at I corp.s and was the ANCOIC for the ranges, and ROTC weapons programs. I did this until I was medically discharged from WOC academy and the Army in 2001
