William's Story
This is the best part of my life. I am retiring from the United States Air Force after 20 1/2 years. I'm looking forward to new challenges as far as my career goes. I'll miss my military brothers and sisters, but its time to turn the page AND begin a new life. The military taught me a lot, I've lived all over the world, from Iceland to Japan, with a couple of stops in Italy. I owe my life today to the military, especially those that impacted my career. My DAD was my hero, my three sons...my strength. My MOTHER was my inner voice that made me think about all the good and bad decisions I made. Then there are those few...those men that wore the uniform...that taught me to always keep the AIR FORCE CORE VALUES first... Core Values -- "Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence In All We Do". Men like, MITCH... my first supervisor who started the foundation of my career, MAC... who guided me during some hard times in my life... RICK... my buddy, my suite mate...silent but strong... DON... Without Him, I have no idea where I would be today personally, BIG BO... my second Father... KEN... my brother in arms...these men paved the way for me to say goodbye to the uniform I loved for over 20 years. I will return to write more one day and to share the "newest" news, regarding my life as a civilian and upcoming future plans.
TO MY THREE BOYS, I LOVE with all my HEART! To Justin...my oldest, who now follows his dad in the Air Force as a computer specialist...I'm proud of you! To Stetsyn and Torin...no matter how far life keeps us apart, I will always love you both and am so proud of the young men you have grown up to be.
To my Brother Malcolm...aka...Steve to most of you...who protects and s...Expand for more
erves our country wearing another uniform...I'm proud of you Bro. You have a passion to protect and serve! Your service to the community is truly appreciated and makes me very proud to call you my brother!
Neil and Mina...My Sensei...my brother...and finally...my little sister! From the day we met, we have been together in life and spirit. Neil, the best Sushi chef in the world and hardest workout partner...we had great times pumping the iron and having sushi and beer at your restaurant in Okinawa. Mina... the sister I never had...we laughed, we cried...we had many memories that will never be forgotten. I love you both.
To my adopted family members... Steve Acuna and daughter Neakers, Don,Stacy, Brandon and Taylor Bonar, Renaldo "Rick" Anderson and big brother Ken Rassmussen...the memories last forever! You all have been the best and are truest of friends...The memories we shared will never be forgotten. You have all, always been there for me when my life took some major changes and when life brought me memories that changed my outlook on enjoying life, the Air Force, and loves. Without all of you, I would not have had the career or memories to remember and cherish.
To MOM and DAD... I am what I am because of you. I owe you my life and I Love you more then I will ever be able to show you. Without your guidance and support, I would not have had the life or success I have had in growing up, serving our country and growing as a man. I am proud to be your son and have the greatest parents in the world.
THANK YOU...for being the parents that you are.
To my friends afar...from high school and my travels in the Air Force...catch you down the paths of life. I know our paths will cross again.
