William Kirk:  

I was at K-Town from 1963 thru 1965. We packed a lot into those two years with formal dances and proms, National Honor Society activities, PYOC and the AYA youth center at Ramstein, working Roads and Grounds in the summers, travel all over Europe and the Holy Land, and Boy Scouts for which I was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. Perhaps most notably at K-Town High, as President of the school's Civic Participation Corps (CPC), the group had the honor of building and presenting the school with the famous K-Town "K" which we lit up at varsity and JV basketball games. No doubt the big "K" was tossed onto the scrap heap long ago but it was a neat legacy while it lasted. After graduation from K-Town in '65, I attended the American College in Paris my Freshman year, then transferred to the University of North Dakota where I graduated in 1969 with a BA in Modern Languages and a Commission in the U.S. Air Force. Later that year, I got engaged on Labor Day, reported for active duty in late September, began Intelligence School in October and married Rita (Tanner) Kirk in December.
