William's Story
Bio: Bill
Joined the United States Marine Corps in 1967 at the age of 17, and
completed my GED while in Service. I served in Marine Corps Force
Recon, and as an 0311, basic infantryman, and Military Police. I
served until 1978. I served one and one half tours in Vietnam. I
later enlisted in the South Carolina Guard in 1985 and retired from the
Guard 9-4-99, as a Chief Warrant Officer 4, attached to the Provost
Marshals Office as Chief Investigator. With awards and attachments I
have the equivalent of 42 ribbons. I have served as a Police Officer,
Deputy Sheriff, Corrections Officer, and a Police Chief during my
career in Law Enforcement. I retired from Civilian Law Enforcement in
1989 due to Cancer (Leukemia) which with the Lords help I have beaten.
I am a Certified Instructor in CPR, First Responder, CPR for the
Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED and PDT, Oxygen Administration,
Pet First Aid,for the American Red Cross
I am also Certified as an Instructor, for the National Safety Council,
in Basic Life Support Adult/Pediatric, First Aid Levels 1 and 2.
I am also certified as a BLS instructor for the American Heart
Association, American Safety and Health Instiute.
I am a Fire Fighter/ First Responder, with Neyles Fire Dept,
I am a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and have been a lodge
officer since 1989, and have held the offices of Secretary, Conductor,
and have been Chaplain for the past 9 years.

I serve with the Local Office of Guardian ad Litem, dealing with abused
and neglected children. I have served since 1996.
I am the Current Chief Of the Colleton County REACT Emergency Team, and
have served in that position since 1980.Life REACT member #552.
I am also certified as a First Responder, and as Air Medivac Ground Crew. I also served as Treasurer and Vice President on
the NC. State REACT Council, which covers both NC. and SC.
I am a member of DSHR, American Red Cross
