William's Story

I graduated from college with a batchelors in Microbiology. Except for four yrars in the Army, I have worked as a Lab Tech in California, Maryland and Washington DC. I am currently working at the Veterans Hospital in Washington DC and have been there about 16 years. My son has his own landscaping business in San Jose and my daughter is in her third year of Dental school at UCSF. I just started picking up the guitar adn keyboard. I used to play guitar in high school. I like to golf and snow ski, when I get the chance. This is NOT one of my better photos. I always wanted to be a scientist and a father when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bit of a stretch idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I do yoga and listen to classical music If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have a purpose, since of belonging, and occasional positive feedback to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My nspiration comes from people who overcome great odds to achieve success. Some examples would be Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln and more recently Michael Phelps The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Mr Peterson Mr. Kilgore, because They taught students to think beyond the classroom and think politically.. I obsess with reading, watching movies and creating, whether it is with art music or writing. My biggest surprise is living on the East Coast. I ended up here when I joined the Army and was transferred to the Pentagon. Shortly after my discharge, I met my second wife and we have been here for about 20 years. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my kitchen and add on a solar heater. My dream home would be energy efficient. I learned to dream big and put those dreams into reality. he safe road. Again, I would like to see Mr. paterson and Mr. Kilgore since both have inspired me to think politically. Another teacher who did this was Mr. Aceturo but he died while I was in high school. If I won $100 million, I'd give a good portion of it to good causes, then spend the rest on my kids, travel and some personal upgrades. I did live in a dorm-during the 1971 earthquake. I lived in a Christian fraternity during my last two years of college. Although I feel quite content right now,I would like to be an a cruise with my wife. I would also like to do some traveling to other countries. My current age is 56. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be ancient. I was so completely wrong. I wuold like t retire at the Veterans Administration. The VA is allowing me to train as an RN and pay my tuition. I would like to pursue this. I really didn't have a first crush. My best friend would tell you I'm obnoxious, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as nice. I do not dress like I did 30 years ago. I dress more casually now. My wierdest job was a medical deanor-assisted in autopsies of dead bodies. I share my home with my grandson, which I find energetic and enthusiastic. My big victory ws being chosen as employee of the month at the VA. If done over, I would probably choose a different career. I woud possibly get more int o computers or software. My oldest friend is my co-worker. We met by being teammates at my job. We clicked beacuse we are so opposite and complementary. The biggest surprise would be my sllight Southern accent that I picked up while I was in the Army. The biggest childhood memory was when I got cut on barb wire when I got off an amusement park train to go exploring.
