William's Story
Life
Over 30 roles with 16 different opera companies in the last 6 years. In 1998 he moved to New York City, performed 13 roles with seven different opera companies, participated in two Young Artist Programs, and now has four upcoming roles. This season, Mr. Olson performed Procolo in Le convenienze ed in convenienze teatrali with New York Chamber Opera. He sang Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Hermann/Schlemil in Les Contes d'Hoffmann as a guest artist with New York Opera Forum. He was heard at the Amato Opera as Lescaut in Manon, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, and Peter in Hansel and Gretel, and also in recital at The Donnell Library in New York City where he performed Silvio in Pagliacci. Upcoming engagements include, Masetto in Don Giovanni with Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, Baritone in Eraclea/Violet G W with Opera Nova, Faninal in Der Rosenkavalier, and Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte. hl and the Night Visitors with the annual Aiken Productions, Inc. tour. Mr. Olson studied voice at Florida State University, and at Brevard Music Center where he sang the roles of Alcindoro in La boheme, and Wagner in Faust. He studied opera at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Upon returning to the United States, he performed Fiorello in Il barbiere di Siviglia with the South Florida Opera Company. In the Spring of 1998, Mr. Olson was an Apprentice Artist with the Sarasota Opera. Mr. Olson is currently singing The Wolf in Little Red Riding Hood with Opera on the Go. Last year, he sang Escamillo in Carmen for the Educational Outreach Program with Wildwood Park for the Performing Arts in Little Rock, Arkansas. He has also performed Schaunard in La boheme, David in L'amico Fritz, and the Father in Hangman, Hangman. His operatic repertoire includes Don Giovanni, Belcore, Don Alfonso, and Marcello.
