William's Story
Life
I am divorced and have a 6 year old daughter, Sophia. Ok, I know, what was I thinking. She is the love of my life though. Keeps you young.
I signed up to find out about the 40th reunion. Sounds like a hoot.
I do get back to the area frequently to visit college friends and fraternity brothers from IUP and to continue my work with the Institute for Learning at Pitt. Don't get back to Wilmerding much, all my family there is gone now. I use my stories about growing up there though in talking to parents and communities down here.
It really was a damned decent time and place to grow up.
College
Don't think I want to revisit the cafeteria cuisine. Ever. Went to IUP and graduated in 72. F...Expand for more
inished my master's there in 75. Got to the dissertation on my doctorate at GW and quit. Like eating sawdust.
I think I will go back though once I retire and get a doctorate in something really interesting and really useless, like Celtic archeology.
I do miss college sometimes, but am too damned old to do now what I did then.
Workplace
I am finishing my 32nd year as an educator with the Prince George's County, MD Public Schools and thinking about my next career. I am currently a Regional Assistant Superintendent for the High School Consortium and am responsible for the 29 high schools and 43,000 secondary students in our 132,000 student school district. It's a lot of work but a wonderful job.
