William's Story
Jot my story down huh? Well, honestly & truly I really wouldn't know where to begin, but I will say this, I won't trouble nor mislead you with a bunch of wishy-washy & untrue details about who & what I was then, oppose to who & what I've become now.
I think when I was in Phllips I was a more so, quiet, and a sort of laid back student, some called me June-Bug, Bug, William, and/or Fresh-Man. I was maybe like most students that was there. Just wanted a better opportunity, a greater life, and someone that believed, loved and truly cared for me and to further my education.
At that time those thoughts was like a fantasy that one can only dream of having. However, like with anything we try to make the best out of any not so good situation.
I entered into Phillips hallowed halls in 1985, and wanted to leave immediately, lol, to make a long story short I never graduated from "The P". I dropped out in 1988 and shortly went to Atterbury Job Corps in Edingburgh IN. As where I received a certificate in retail sales, however with still no GED.
A few years after leaving job corps in 1991, I went back to school for my GED at Macolm X College as where I finally gotten my GED in 1994 and then later on attend Harold Washington College 2003 and majored in accounting.
I still haven't gotten any type of degree in my accounting field, however, the model I live by now is "if I start something I'll finish it."
However people, I did leave out a lot of grimmy details that also followed my life and at that time to me wasn't so good like; the prison ti...Expand for more
me I served in 1989-2001, alcohol & drug abuse since age 12, being in a gang since age 16, being homeless at age 17, literally eating out of trash cans in my struggling years, clubbing & partying since age 14, unable to stay with one woman since God knows when, making babies since age 18, lack of employment since God knows when??? And never holding a stead job for more than 8mos. is all part of who I was as a lost boy & soul. Just trapped inside a mans body.
These great, and somewhat harmful experiences have all taught me the true meaning of life!!!
Life Is What You Make It!!!
I've educated my self in and out of prison.
I stick with one woman only now(just got outta a 6yr. relationship as of last year, inspite of that I'm single),
I don't use any type of illegal drugs, including alcohol, matter of fact I don't mess with anything that's addictive, including cigarettes, gambling, coffee, etc.
I take good care of my children, not only this, but of other people's children as well, which led me into my volunteer tutoring and mentoring days, I eat good & healthy now(look at them abs, lol).
I've started my own company in 2006 name Strength by Storm, my house is my office as of right now. My website is named after my company, just dot com after strength by storm, but no spaces inbetween.
I drive a 2005 Mercury Sable that's all paid for, and so many more great things has followed my life since my change to get my mind right, mature and become what God/Creator have always wanted me to be; a strong, compassionate, & honest man!!!
