William's Story
I went to Cornell as an engineering student --- a bad choice both for location and type of study. I left in 1967 and eventually went active in the Army, becoming a helicopter pilot and instructor. Left the Army in 1972 as a captain, and taught flying at San Jose Muni where I met my wife, Sandie. In 1974 I went to work for the FAA as an enroute air traffic radar controller, which I did until 1981. . We sold our house and the shop, retired, and moved to Prescott Valley in 2004. We now have the ideal life, living in a slightly upscale development at nearly a mile high, so our weather is extraordinarily gorgeous. I am the current president of a national model train association with about 1600 members and a $90,000 year budget. Sandie and I are coming up on our 41st anniversary. We have a son, a daughter and three grand kids, the oldest just getting married in April.
