William's Story
Life
After graduating from good ole RC I attended Elmhurst College and graduated with a BA (psychology) in 1970. I met my wife, Joyce, there and we were married in July after graduation. I began teaching in Wheaton/Warrenville in 1973 and have been there for 31 years (4th, 5th and 6th grades). I have been retired from teaching for 6 years and work as an education consultant when the spirit moves me. I received my masters degree from National Louis University in 1983 in Management and Development of Human Resources. In 1990 I earned my doctorate from Vanderbilt University in Educational Leadership.
We do not have any children and love to travel and enjoy the company of our friends. Joyce is a Speech Pathologist in Bolingbrook where we live and enjoys her profession. She has recently retired (kind of) and now enjoys 3 day work weeks. We would love to hear from "old" friends and classmates. Please feel free to email us at any time. We are usually good at returning emails.
College
The Elmhurst College Glee Club was an extremely important aspect of my college life. I also minor...Expand for more
ed in bridge, pool, and homecoming floats. The greatest part of going to college was meeting Joyce Ferlazzo - my wife. We were married shortly after graduation and have been together ever since. I am very appreciative of Elmhurst and the opportunities it provided for me to grow intellectually and as a person.
Workplace
Joyce and I both became teachers after graduation from Elmhurst. She became a Speech Pathologist and I taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade specializing in science. Joyce and I became Realtors for a few years until we opened Joy's Hallmark from 1979 - 1985. I kept teaching while Joyce managed the business. She became president of the local Chamber of Commerce and excelled as a business leader. I began work as a educational consultant for various state agencies and companies. School improvement, science education, and assessment are my areas of speciality.
Before I attended college, I worked at an A & W drive-in restaurant in Richton Park, IL. I would really like to find some of the people I worked with then, so please contact me if you ever worked for Bud and Mary.
