William's Story

Life My life is essentially boring. I used to consist of six days a week of bar hopping, now I am lucky if I get to go out one day. I do the Karaoke thing, mostly. Although not as much as I used to. I suppose it is time to get married eh? (LOL!) I have a son who lives me, at the time of writing this revised profile in 2018, has turned 10 years old. Yep I started really late. School Biggest Crush: Elaine Strickland, Sabrina Lutz and Kelly Little. Why? Sabrina- Sweet, sincere and nonjudgemental Kelly- Didn't really like girls outside my race until her. Beautiful smile, deep blue eyes, tall and very elegant. Elaine- Hm dunno. Probably because she ignored me and made me chase after her. We did go to the Prom. If I could do it all again, I wouldn't change much. I liked Lawrence North, but then we moved and I had to go to John "Deathrow" Marshall. Ugh! I was very happy when we moved again and ended up spending my last two years at Broad Ripple. My happiest moments at BR were being apart of Drama and being in the plays, especially "La Cucaracha(sp)". I also enjoyed (and I am embarrassed to say) hanging out with the "Liquor Crew" smoking weed and drinking beer between classes. The funniest time was in our Senior year and it was mandatory to go to Literature/English, so we would cut the previous class go drink and come back in time for that class with our glasses on. The teacher would always call on us and we would bump the chairs on the way of or drop something and laugh hysterically over everything. Ahhh, the enjoyments of being a juvenile! College Jeesh! I made the mistake, while an undergrad at IUPUI, to shack with two other guys. One was a "Nirvana" type of individual, who was eventually ran out by the Type A head case other roomate. That guy was your typical movie...Expand for more
party animal. LOL! I don't want to talk about all nighter for exams, because Undergrad was easy. When I went to Graduate school I learned about the value of coffee and sleep necessity. Sometimes I would be lucky to get four hours sleep and spend 40 hours a week on working on projects, gathering data, and creating presentations! It was worth it since it led to my Masters in Public Affairs. Workplace Ha! Nope never had to flip burgers, although if I did I would have never joined the Army and would have stayed back and probably kept chasing Elaine.. Ah well. My first real job was joining the Army after High School and spending two years over seas in Germany. Since then I have been in Loss Prevention which consists of catching shoplifters and referring them to the police for prosecution. I also investigate employees for cash and merchandise theft and also refer them to the police. Since Grad School, I have held management positions with big box retailers, such as Kroger, Kmart and Walmart. Since then I have been back in Loss Prevention Management. I've seen been working for the VA at the Federal Building downtown, I will likely retire with the VA or another federal agency. Military I spent four years in the Army and in college I spent two years in ROTC. In the Army I did great. I spent two year at Ft. Riley, Ks and two years at Bamberg Germany. I was consistently recommended for oustanding work from Battalion/Brigade inspections and Inspector General audits. I was rewarded as Recreation Manager at Ft. Riley and Special Duty Driver for the Post Deputy Commander for Bamberg Germany. In ROTC, at IUPUI, I went to training camp and held high positions of Platoon Leader and Company Commander! I then went back to Germany and acted as Platoon Leader for an Ordinance Company.
