Once, a not-so-shy little ROTC, who was the only boy in his class on senior day to walk across the stage with his coat open (major sin!). No one ever knew it until now, but as a sophomore, I had a hopeless crush on Irene Smith, who was a Senior at that time (hence "hopeless") - yeah, like I was the ONLY one!!! I came up through Sunset via Williamson Preparatory School, Rosemont Elementary then W.E. Greiner Jr. High. In Sunset, I decided to retire the practice of getting into a fight after school every day, as I wasn't all that bad after all. School was only that until I learned to play guitar, then suddenly all the monsters who wanted my flesh decided I was pretty cool after all, and we became friends. The music thing lasted through and beyond college (UTA) and I avoided Viet Nam due to acute allergies. I am thankful to report not only is Viet Nam in the past, but so are my allergies and musical career, although I still tinker with it, and have been known to sit in with old mates when I run into them at various gigs.
