William's Story
Life
After I graduated from St. Francis, I attended Foothill College for two years before transferring to UC Santa Barbara. I graduated in 1967, and moved to Hawaii for a while to surf. I returned to California, enrolled in the Master's program at CSU Long Beach, and earned my M.A. in English. I also married my college sweethart, Leslie. We moved to Carmel after graduation, and two years later bought a home in Carmel Valley. I became an English teacher at Seaside High school in 1971. In 1974 My son Matthew was born, and in 1977 our marriage ended.
At that point, I moved to Santa Cruz, continued working as a teacher in Seaside, and met the love of my life, Tracy. We were married in 1981. Our daughter Andrea was born in 1983 and her sister Aerin was born in 1986. We bought a 22 acre ranch in the hills above Watsonville where we breed peregrine falcons in association with UC Santa Cruz.

lted while supervising a basketball game. Although I was hospitalized and had my mouth wired shut for six weeks, the event turned into a blessing. With all the well-wishing I received, I had the opportunity to attend my own eulogy without having to die.
The following year, I was promoted to Principal at the district's Continuation High School. In October 2007, I semi-retired, although I am still working part time as a consultant for the district. I am hoping to to spend more time with my falcon breeding project surfing and exercising.
I am very proud of my family. My wife Tracy was named California Middle School teacher of the year in 2001 by the California League of Middle Schools. She now teaches at Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill, where my daughter Andrea, who earned her BA at UCSB and her MA at UCSC is her colleague. My son Matt graduated from UNLV with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management after serving in the Navy and is currently working at a resort hotel in the Napa Valley. Aerin is a June, 2008graduate of UCSB and intends to pursue a career in law.
