William's Story
On Sept 22, 2008 I walked across the street and began my reunion so to speak with the Eureka Fire Dept., taking on the position of Fire Inspector (working as a retired annuitant). My first time around with EFD was July 1986 when I left Arcata P.D. and came to Eureka as a Dispatcher. In March of 1991 I began my career at Eureka Police Dept. as the Evidence Tech (Crime Scene Specialist). Retired Dec. of 2005 and returned in Jan. 2006 working as an annuitant doing fingerprint processing/comparison/identification, and suspicious death scenes. To keep my finger in the law enforcement side of things I still teach crime scene processing at the Police Academy and Intro to Law at the Dispatch Academy at College of the Redwoods.
Married to the same love of my life since 1975 and have...Expand for more
two children, girl and boy, late and mid twenties respectively.
Love to kayak (no white water though!), camp, listen to music, take photographs, and listen/watch the SF Giants. Do chase a little white ball around the golf course once in awhile, but not very well.
Have had two great trips in 2007/08: a week long kayaking journey in Baja and got within 50 yards of two blue whales; and a ten day trip to Washington, D.C. to visit our daughter - got to finally see all of those incredible sights we read about in history.
Had an incredibly wonderful time at the Class of '68 Reunion. Was just mind boggling to see what great shape everyone is in. Special thanks to Dennis Wong, Pam Chinn, and Dennis Bagwell and the committee for their tireless effort of making the evening so nice.
