Ray's Story
Life:
After High School went to work for Cla-Val in Costa Mesa. In 1966 was drafted in the US Army during/for the build up of the TET offensive. Got out of the service in 1968 and returned to work for Cla-Val. Been there ever since. My God!!
Lifes Bummers:
Got married in 1969 and started a family. Had some major problems with my oldest son Eddie. At 5 years old found out he had brain cancer. They were able to remove 95% of the tumor and hoped they could get the rest with treatments. We were told on numerous ocassions that he would not make it past 20 than went to 25, 28 & 30. Finally lost his battle in February 2008. You know it's true what they say "parents are not supposed to bury the children". God I miss him.
Lifes Fun Times:
Other two sons and one daughter are doing just great. I have a total of eight (8) grand kids - 4 boys, 4 girls, and love them all. Don't see any more grand kids coming, so I guess I'll just have to wait on the great-grand kids, if they hurry up.
Live in a little community of Perris Calif. out in the fields. Dirt road to my house and no one around. It's so quite at night and the stars are beaming. Gets a little hot in the summer, but the pool is refreshing enough to keep the body temps down. Been here since 1984. Moved to the Riverside area in 1...Expand for more
972 and than spent about 3 years in Albuquerque between 1978 & 1981. Sure was pretty in the fall and spring. Moved back to the Riverside area upon our return. Been here ever since. Just like the area.
Travel:
In 1988 took over as Marketing Manager for our Aviation Fueling Division at Cla-Val. This gave me the opportunity of a life time traveling all over the world. I have been to cities in China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, the Phillipines, a little small island in the Indian Ocean called Diego Garcia. I traveled to England, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, Portugal. Belgium, Norway. I been to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, UAE, Morocco & Israel. All in three (3) years on business. What a wild ride that was. I think during those 3 years I was probably American Airlines/British Airways best customer, or at least one of their top travelers.
College:
After raising a family, I decided to go back to school part time and complete my education. After going through some very tedious times and 7 - 1/2 years I finally graduated in 2004 from Almeda University with a BA degree majoring in Marketing. I feel real good about doing this and my family was very proud of their old man. I think if I had it to do all over again, I surely would have started earlier in my career.
