Wilson's Story
I have retired from the Navy with thirty-two years service. Four years active and twenty-eight years reserve. I was in the fleet Navy and when my time was up, my friend Jerry Willard talked me into transferring into the Navy Sea Bees. My last duty was the Gulf war.
During my Navy Reserve time, I worked for Southern Bell and when Judge Green broke up AT&T, I worked for BellSouth until 1991. My last duty there was in Australia from June until December of 1991, participating in the bid to take over the Government Tel Company. What a mess it was. I retired in December 1991.
After a year of loafing, I started a construction company with a Navy friend of mine. We built...Expand for more
custom homes for a year and I took over completely and built homes around Atlanta until 1998.
I am married to an Atlanta girl. This is my second marriage. We have no children together, but from my first marriage, I have three sons and one daughter. I have sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
After 1998 and a heart attack, I decided to work for free. I am on two board of directors, Centro Shalom Tijuana and African Children's Mission. Through my church, we rebuild homes damaged from storms such as Katrina and tornados in northern Georgia. We also help the elderly, widows, and those that cannot afford it with repairs and additions to their home.
