Richard Carlos's Story
Life
The "Now" photo was taken recently for my Embassy photo ID. We are scheduled to be stationed here for the next three years before returning to our home in Virginia in the summer of 2015. Before coming to live in Bangkok, Thailand, with my wife and two sons, Joshua (now 15) and Noah (13) we lived in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Arlington, Virginia for five years (from the summer of 2006 until the fall of 2011). Prior to that, we lived and worked in Guatemala for five years, Peru for four years, and El Salvador for four years with my wife and two boys. I am an environmental consultant again, but have worked for the World Bank, The Nature Conservancy, a management consulting fimr (Abt Associates), and for U.S. EPA. My wife, Carrie, is an U.S. Agency for International Development (AID) professional.

d did a tour of duty at Travis AFB in northern California. Then, I went to U.C. Berkeley on the G.I. Bill, graduating phi beta kappa in 1986. I got my masters in public policy at the JFK School of Gov't at Harvard in 1988. Went to work for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from 1988 until 1994 when I moved to Latin America.
I think about Santa Barbara often, and have very fond memories of it and of SBHS. Too bad it costs so much to buy a home there nowadays... I hope to return one day soon (maybe by 2017 when my boys have flown the coup and are in college), but Iôll always have a special place in my heart for SanBar. I hope everyone is fine (who bothers to read this) and that your lives have turned out reasonably well (or as well as one can expect)! If anyone has a 1975 Yearbook, I hope you'll post it so we can all see it and remember what we looked like back then.
