Wutta's Story
After two tours of duty as a Marine, I met and married my husband, Broderick (Brod), the VP of an Architectural firm. We reside in northern California. Four children; Adrienne, 18, Arielle, 16, Paul, 13, and Lisa Marie, 10. In 2001 we purchased an 80-acre farm, and my husband designed and built our home. Brod retired in 2005, and now designs and builds several homes per year on a commission basis. We have varied interests, and in 2006 I designed, and Brod built, a custom photography studio for my semi-professional interest behind our home. Adrienne is following my footsteps, and will be enlisting in the Marine Corps in the Spring. Her interest is to pursue her degree in her free time, and eventually become a commissioned officer. Ariel is interested in either becoming an architect or a veterinarian. Paul has a strong interest in science and engineering, although he's not sure what he wants to pursue upon high school graduation. He says at this point that he would eventually like to pursue working for NASA, although we'll wait and see. Lisa Marie shows a strong interest in music and the arts. We made our first trip to Europe in the summer of 2008, and plan to return in the summer of 2012, primarily to the Tuscany region of Italy. The entire family is very busy with myriad interests, and...Expand for more
now that Adrienne and Ariel drive and have their own cars, Brod and I are more free from taking the children to all of their activities, although Paul and Lisa Marie still keep us fairly busy with their schedules. Adrienne graduated this past June, and currently works full-time as a receptionist at a local art gallery, where she plans to remain until she leaves for Marine Boot Camp. Ariel worked over the summer for a veterinarian making house calls to various farms in the area, and is now preparing to return to school for her Junior year next week. Paul mowed lawns all summer at several housing plans, and is beginning 8th Grade the week after next. Lisa Marie helped me in my studio, and continued her music lessons and girls' softball, and will enter the 5th Grade next week, also. The Autumn will be a very busy time with local festivities, Halloween traditions, and then Thanksgiving and the whole Holiday season. Brod's parents are flying out for Thanksgiving, and will spend a week before returning to Connecticut. Then it is Holiday shopping, and decoration, and much cooking in preparation for Christmas. My photography schedule gets somewhat busier for the Holidays, not only for clients but also for our own family. After New Year's things should "slow" to their normal still-busy schedule.
