Wynne's Story
After high school I went to college for a year and half, took a semester off and got a part-time job at the Dover MUA that turned into a full-time job and never went back. Married Glenn Corkum in 1989, had two children, my son is now 18 and my daughter is 16. Moved to NC in 1996 and shorlty thereafter went to work for the City of Jacksonville where I held numerous positions from Construction Inspector to Construction Specialist, and I am now the Plants Maintenance Supervisor. At the end of 1999 I saw the light and separated from Glenn. I met the perfect southern gentleman and the love of my life, Terry Ray, and started dating him in July of 2000. We married in 2002 and I was blessed with two more adult daughters and granddaughters. In September 2003 Terry was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer at the age of 48. The next three and a half years were a roller coaster of highs (scans were clean, treatment was working) and lows (it resurfaced two times). ...Expand for more
April 13, 2007 I lost the dearest, strongest, most generous and loving man that ever lived. I continue to live in Jacksonville surrounded by Terry's close and extended family who look after me incredibly well. My son, youngest daughter and I have four horses, eight chickens, five dogs and two cats. If anyone brings home another thing that requires feeding I will scream. Since my husbands passing I have become quite adept at using the tractor (John Deere, of course). While I would love to make more money and have more free time, I have to say I am quite content living in the country with the slow pace, peace and quiet. My only social life is during football season during which I am a high school band parent helping with props, uniforms, working concessions, spying on my children, etc. That's pretty much it. I keep in touch with Mary Haelig, but I've lost touch with everyone else. Hope to see and catch up with some old friends at the reunion in August.
