Yolanda's Story
Life
I graduated from the University of Arizona in 1984 (Bachelor Of Science). In 1985, I entered the military (Army) as an Officer Candidate. I worked at the United States Army Medical Reseach Institute for Chemical Defense in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. While in the military,I met my husband Vincent. We were married in October 1987. In 1990, I got out of the Army and began working at Maryland Medical Laboratory in the Flow Cytometry Department. On Easter Sunday 1992,our daughter Arselia was born in Baltimore, Maryland. We currently reside in El Paso, Tx and I am attending the University of Texas at El Paso. I am changing my career. I plan to take the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam in May 2002. I still enjoy running. Of course, I don't run sprints anymore (100 yd or 220 yd dashes). We will leave (PCS)El Paso in November 2003. This will be our last move. We hope the Army will send us either to Fort Sam Houston, TX (San Antonio area)or to Fort Carson, Colorado (Denver area). We have decided that Phoenix will be our permanent city of residence.
Update: I passed the CPA exam (May 2003)and have sought employment for 18 months. Jobs for an entry level Accountant are scarce. We currently reside in Costa Mesa, CA. My husband will retire from the military in August 2007.

d, Vincent, deployed to Iraq in October 2005. He returned home in November 2006. Because he was promoted to Major in August 2006, Vincent now plans to retire in October 2009. I was finally hired at a local Tax Accounting firm on January 30, 2006. Well, the job only lasted 6 months due to the loss of clients(money). Now I have decided to return back to the lab. The Accounting profession is not for me. Anyhow, we will remain in Costa Mesa, CA until our daughter, Arselia, graduates from high school in 2010. She attends Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA). It a terrific school. The academics and the arts programs are outstanding. She is a ballerina. By the way, my husband bought me a 2006 Corvette convertible in March 2006. We traded in my 2004 Corvette coupe.
Update III: We are relocating to Scottsdale, AZ on July 28, 2008. We close on our home on that day. We decided to leave California because our daughter was not treated fairly in her conservatory so it was time to go. She is excited to attend a traditional high school but she will miss her friends. My husband will retire January 1,2009. He will join us in October when he starts terminal leave. He is currently stationed at Ft Irwin, CA. I'll miss driving 85 mph on the freeways and not having to worry about getting a ticket.
