Yuvonne's Story
Life
Trying to write my accomplishments in 2000 letters or less is not an easy task, but here goes... I'll start with graduation. I didn't actually graduate from Ayer, I left Fort Devens in my junior year. I ended up graduating from Canton McKinley High School in Canton, OH. But I claim Ayer as my home school because I went to public schools there in 4th and 6th-11th grade. And although I claim Ayer as home, I must say the 20th reunion was kind of strange for me. Anyway, I graduated from the University of Akron (Akron, OH) in 1984 with a degree in Political Sci. I planned to go to law school, but haven't made it yet. Right out of college I got a reporting job at the Akron Beacon Journal. We are a Knight-Ridder n...Expand for more
ewspaper and a Pulitizer Prize-winning paper. In fact I worked on the series of stories that won us our last Pulitizer (the top award in newspaper journalism). Currently, I'm still at the Beacon Journal - I'm an assistant features editor - responsible for television and health news and some entertainment-related news.
I'm married and have one biological daughter who is 12 and two step-children - a 12-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son. My husband, Warren Webb, is a police sgt. with the Akron Police Dept.
I have seven sisters and brothers, three older, four younger. My parents live in Canton, Ohio, but most of my siblings live outside of Ohio. None of them really like it here, but hey, it's home - for me.
