Yvette's Story
I attended Arlington High School for only one year (1979-1980), which was the year I graduated.
I still live in Arlington (at the same place in Arlington Heights, too, if any of you knew me back then and maybe that will jog your memory). I wasn't popular, and I wasn't too well known since I hadn't grown up in Arlington. I was a bit of a loner, as well, but Sharon (Groendyke/Unruh) befriended me and it helped so very much,
Anyway, I actually turned out great. I've been a college teacher for a dozen years and was a medical biller/coder several years prior to that.
After graduation, I got married and had a child (a boy). I worked as a waitress and bartender for many years until. I got a divorce after 12 years of marriage. With my ex out of the picture, I raised my so...Expand for more
n alone. There were hard times, of course, but I did get a business degree and began helping others through my work in mental health & chemical dependency. Now I teach college and love it.
I inherited my family home in Arlington after my grandparents and then my mother all passed from cancer. I renovated it and use it as rental property, although I live close by. I also inherited the family cabin in E. WA, but it burned down in the Carpenter Road Complex Fire in 2015. It was very sad, and I am still sad when I think about it. But otherwise, life is good!
I attended the 20 year reunion, and I enjoyed seeing several of my school friends.. I am looking forward to the next one, too, because I missed all other reunions. If you see me at the reunion, stop by and say Hi!
