Yvonne's Story
Life
Probably no surprise to my high school friends that after college I pursued my interests in bowling. I bowled in NoVA for a number of years, winning several local tournaments and honors. In 1994 I took a job with the Young American Bowling Alliance in Milwaukee, where I worked in industry renewal projects with Bowling, Inc. until 2000.
Today I am a freelance association executive and consultant, working with a variety of non/not-for-profit organizations.
I am married for a second time and have no children, only our dog Miss Heidi. David and I enjoy travel mostly using the many timeshares we own. Our favorite location is Hawaii, which we try to get to at least once every couple of years. I have also fallen in love with Alaska and have traveled there extensively over the past eight years.
I look forward to hearing from friends who I bowled with and/or went to high school with at McLean and Langley.

College
While most of my high school friends went away to college, I chose to stay in NoVA attending George Mason University. Living in Fairfax, I was very involved in bowling while working my way through college. I graduated in 1980 with my BS in Psychology.
In 1992 I returned to school while working for Southland Corporation (7-Eleven Food Stores). I graduated with my MSBA from Strayer University (Washington, DC) in 1994.

years in retail management, I found my career niche in the non/not-for-profit world in 1994. My first job in a not-for-profit was with the Young American Bowling Alliance in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As the national governing body for youth bowling, YABA was the result of the merger of AJBC and YBA in the mid 80's. It was a dream come true in terms earning a living promoting youth bowling around the USA and Canada.
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to volunteer and work in bowling, dating back to my last year in high school. My first husband was a professional bowler and most of our friends were involved in the sport.
Today I look back on bowling with many fond memories of friendships built and travels around Viriginia and the USA. I often wonder if any of my friends pursued bowling beyond our high school and travel leagues.
While in college at GMU, I was on the Wash. DC Area WBA Board of Directors and was the first youth director at Reston Bowling Center. In 1979 I won the Metro Washington BPAA Women's Scratch Invitational Tournament at the age of 21 . . . a record that still stands today. I have four local titles, two of which were with one of my best friend from youth leagues at McLean Bowling Center, Janet (Shenk) Cassel. She is really the only friend from those days at McLean Bowl that I am still in contact with.
I'd love to hear from others who used to bowl with us "back in the day" . . .
