Yvonne's Story
Life
After SF I went on to attend Whittier College where I earned a B.A. in Life Science, M.A. in Education, a single subject teaching credential and finally an Administrative Credential. In between all the classes I found time to get married, have a son, and get divorced (not necessarily in that order). Anyway, life is great! I'm remarried to my best friend from college and we have remained local - living in Whittier. My son is officially ending his sophomore year at La Serna High School (can you believe it?!). My daughter was born May 10th, 2006 (I had an extra special Mother's Day). I completed my second Master's degree in Educational Counseling along with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential from APU in May of 2009. My husband thinks I'm nuts, but I just believe there's always something else to learn.
My Job:

l Science teacher at La Serna HS in Whittier. After 5 years as a classroom teacher, I was promoted to become part of the administrative team as the Director of Language Development. In this position I promote higher and equal education for students new to the country. I love my profession, but my children and husband are where my heart is!

College
College was never ending for me - literally. I attended Whittier College from 1989-2003. I completed both teaching and administrative credentials as well as my B.A. and M.A. Undergrad was the best! I was really involved with the Hispanic Student Association and met a lot of great people (including the man I'm married to today!!)
