Yvonne-Monique's Story
Life
Since leaving high school, I attended North Texas State University. Then I worked for 15 years in Dallas in international sales until I met my husband in 1994 and married him in 1995. I continued working in international sales for several more years.
I live in a suburb of Chicago with my husband and his year son for 8 months of the year. The rest of the year we spend in the Northwoods of Wisconsin near Minocqua where we have a house on a lake.
I am now semi-retired and do volunteer work at our local church where my husband and I work with couples preparing for marriage through a program called FOCCUS...Expand for more
. In case you have not guessed, I converted to Catholicism after I married (something that I wanted to do for a long time.)
I entered the business world and never became the journalist that everyone thought that I would be back in high school. In fact, before I got married none of my friends or in my family could have imagined that I would have ended up being a housewife and would enjoy cooking, living on a lake, fishing, etc. Not to mention living in climates where it is cold and snows.
Marriage changed me from a hard nosed business woman to a person who now enjoys some of the simple pleasures in life.
