Zorena's Story

I graduated from Denby in 1978. After graduation I joined the United States Marine Corps in 1979. I am a ex Woman Marine. I served five years. Got married in 1983, was married for 18 yrs. From that marriage, I had 2 children. I have been a childcare practitioner for 22 years. Throughout the 22 years I have obtained my Associates of Arts in Early Childhood Development, a Bachelors of Arts in Organizational Management, with the concetration in Early Childhood Development and in December of 2008, I earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching Technology from Ashford University. Currently I am the head director for 3 childcare centers, and is planning to open a center for teen mothers who need childcare while in they continue their education " The Road to success begins with me" is my motto. Lastly, It is my desire to obtain my Doctorate's within the next 2years. My inspiration to work work with children began early in my life. My parents who where foster parents loved children and would help any and everyone that seemingly needed help. More so, if it had not been for my two beautiful children who encouraged me to go back and finish my degree, I would probably still be wandering in my life. for many reason, and I must thank him for my children. Their encouragement, support and patience gave me the desire to do my best and push forward. If I won $100 million, I'd give $10,000 of it to breast cancer research, then spend the rest on my family, myself and my business. As mentioned before, education, wheter it be on the job training or school, it is important to be the best at what one aspires to be. Just because one does not have a degree does not mean one is less successful. Go for what matters the most to you in life and you will be happy in the end. My best friend would tell you I'm a very loving, understanding, intelligent person with a hilarious sense of humor, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as conservative, quiet, and bossy. I still dress somewhat in the same style just a bit more fashionable. I still love my jeans with my blouse tucked in and my caps. I share my home with a foster daughter, which I find rewarding, because I am still helping those in need. She is also great company. I will hate to see her go when she turns 18 which will be in a few months. Afterwards I will then devote my time to my childcare facility which I hope to have up and running in a few months.
