Aaron's Story
Life
I've been to Maui, Honolulu, Key West, Florida several times, Hong Kong, La Habana, the Bahamas and Quito, Ecuador.
I have two children and I am still married to Joanna Wong SHS 89', USC 96'. Slowly I have been learning to take life as it comes that you are responsible for your own happiness (and that it cannot be bought). Life is wonderful journey!
College
I went to USC in 1990-1992 after transfering from Bakersfield College and graduated with a BA in Psychology in 1995. I went back to USC in 2000 to get my MSW. I am now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I assess, diagnose, and treat most forms of mental illness, behavioral and emotional problems. I have been in a few positions since graduate school and all have been rewarding. The biggest challenge so far has been doing family therapy in Spanish. The most helpful advice one can get from therapy is the notion that one has to give up ever having a better past/childhood. Live for the present! I have learned more outside of the classroo...Expand for more
m than inside and I am happy to pass on the info that I have learned. Hopefully I will teach at a junior college sometime and have a private practice on the side.
Workplace
From working to McDonald's and the Swap Meet in Bakersfield, to working as a child protective services worker in LA after I completed my undergrad studies in Psychology at USC and then went back for graduate work at USC and got my MSW. Now I am a therapist (LCSW) who treats individuals and families with behavioral, emotional, and mental health problems. In short, I have exceeded the expectations of my probation officer at South High---Mr. Brown. There were a few influencial teachers at South but most were just annoying and gave me a hard time. I went from being a troubled kid to treating troubled kids (and treating the parents/teachers who can make them so). My father instilled a good work ethic and taught me that life wasn't always fair. Not only that but he gave me a lot of common sense and pragmatical thinking that helps me today.
