James's Story
Life
Damn! 2000 characters?! Ok, here goes nothing:
Im Aaron. First names actually James, Jimmy, or some such variant, but I try to forget
only to be cruelly reminded on first days of class, as some of you no doubt remember.
In high school I spent much time in band and otherwise being nerdy, though I certainly dont regret it. I played oboe in concert and tuba in marching band. I continued marching in band through college at Washington State University as well. My fondest band memories are the many fine trips of yore in high school made to places such as the B.C. Lions stadium, and to Washington D.C. to compete in concert (where we came in first). I also remember the flight to D.C. being fraught with hilarious mishaps, such as the spillage of an entire cart of airline omelets that ended in the plastering of several people
but lets not tarry on the details. I will reveal, however, that I never had any American Pie-esque band camp experiences. You can tak...Expand for more
e that any way you want :)
Following in the self-made rut that began before high school, I went on to major in Computer Science at Wazzu (WSU). I also took up ham radio and became president of the Rho Epsilon radio fraternity, the oldest student organization on campus (excepting for student government) dating back to 1911 or something like that. Anyway, college was very cool, and in 1998 I met my wife Kirsten (now of three years), with whom I make a home in Sammamish, WA.
Now after graduating I came to work as a writer of code for Microsoft on the Windows team, where Ive been behind some major releases such as Windows 2000 and Windows XP over the last four years; its been lots of fun and certainly more than I would have imagined back at Inglemoor, but then it wasnt a choice on those stupid bubble-sheet career surveys that tried to pigeon-hole you into Fireman, Doctor, etc. :)
Anyway, in closing: dont hesitate to say Hi if youre around.
Best Regards,
J. Aaron Holmes
