Aaron's Story
Life
Hello Class of '92. I moved in 1999 to Greensboro with my fiance, (wife as of 5/20/04) Crystal. I work for United Health Care as a project manager. I get to work from home everyday so thats nice. My wife is from Concord. We miss the people of Charlotte, but we love Greensboro. It's like Charlotte was 25 years ago. Anyway, I have not changed too much. Still driving Monte Carlo's like I did back in High School. I restored a 1972 Monte Carlo from the frame up and show it at car shows and meets. Still a big Atlanta Falcons and N.C.State Wolfpack fan. I've got lots of great memories of Olympic, Kennedy, Steele Creek and Amay James! Hope I run it to some of you some time! God bless.
School
Olympic was a pretty fun place most of the time during my years there from 89-92...I hung out with Jamie Ingram a lot then, and he and I are still great friends today. Some of my fondest memories where from classes like Auto Mechanics, Horticulture, an Mrs. Furr's English class. One of the biggest laughs I still get is when I was in Drivers Ed. and being paired up with Jennifer Deitz as my driving partner. Jennifer would be all over the road and the instructor(the name escapes me right now) who had a temper would be yelling his head off at her. Meanwhile Jennifer is smiling and lauging the whole time...Anyone who had Auto Mechanics with me knows what an absolute riot that class was. I remember Tenny Hicks would through those 55 gallon drum trash cans around when Mr Johnston went in his office. He'd give them a toss and it would produce a "BOOM!!!!" Or when Tim Newell crashed the Volvo into the wall when ...Expand for more
we all were going to do some work on it! Good times!
I remember skipping school with Jamie Ingram and Sharry Pecuile a lot back then too. And I remember the walk outs we would have too. Word would get out that "there's gonna be a walk out at 11 o'clock", sometimes we'd actually do it...Not that we were protesting anything other than getting the heck out of school!
Workplace
My work profile is like this:
All through high school I worked for Auto Bell Car Wash. This was a pretty fun job and it actually paid pretty well when you factor all the tips that you made. I worked with some characters out there too, like my manager who was a stand up comic by night-he kept us laughing a lot. A few of the not so cool things were that you worked in the extreme elements a lot, and usually in the summertime you had a v-neck farmers tan.
When I graduated HS, I went to work building tires for General Tire. This job made a man out of me for sure. It paid very well, but you had to work in 120 degree heat most of the time, it was a very dirty enviroment, and I had to work two twelve hour shifts on the weekends. I missed every NFL and college football game for 5 years!
I left General Tire and went to work for a landscaping equipment distributor named E.J. Smith Group. That too was a fun place to work. It was a small company and everyone seemed like family. I worked there for about 4 years.
That brings me to my current job for the past 8 years at United Healthcare. I like this job pretty well. I get to work from home everyday so thats nice. I write computer macro's that automate processes for them.
