Aaryn's Story
Life
As of July 2016
As a kid I moved around. I lived bi-coastally and as both a Northerner and Southerner. I was born and lived in Florida for the first 5 years, upstate NY for the next 7, Southern CA through high school, and San Jose, CA since then.
When I left Lakewood after graduation I left some close friends, like Laura, Ellen, Ron, Tom, Brian, James... and my sweetheart, Robert. I saw many of them at our 10 year reunion, which was wonderful, but just like high school, I wouldn't want to repeat it!!
I got my undergraduate degree in psych at San Jose State and attended CA School of Professional Psychology for my masters. I lived at home and commuted, but still got introduced into college life at the campus pub and watching Dungeons and Dragons. (Hi guys!) I graded papers for professors in the SJSU Natural History Dept. and VERY briefly (2 weeks) worked at Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza as the "bartender". I went to bar-tending school and raised money for grad school by bar-tending days at a restaurant for a year. I have a masters in clinical psychology. For 22 years I was the director of a program that provided substance abuse prevention services to school age youth In Fremont, CA. I was also the program director for the area's Project New Start, which helps youn...Expand for more
g people remove gang-related tattoos. The agency closed in 2012 and I'm currently in the market for a new career.
In 1994 I got married. We live in a small house in San Jose with our brilliant and handsome 17 yr old son. My husband teaches mathematics at a junior college. For fun I do lots of crafts, like making jewelry, costumes and fancy greeting cards. SteamPunk is a fav - think Jules Verne meets Mad Max. I've also written a graphic novel (comic) about a young woman who feels the world closing in on her and wants to run away when she meets a very sexy bad boy. This project has gotten me attending comic cons in my area.
I volunteer with the local elementary school ceramic program, firing pieces and training other volunteers. I love to travel and would love to go back to Europe. My Mom, Claire Cameron, is also great, a published author of 2 novels called "Redemption at Ringside" about the boxing world in the 1940s, and is reworking a thriller about the horrors in a large nursing home. She's also written a couple books of poetry. She's currently living in NC. My step dad was a physics prof at UC Santa Cruz for years and co-authored a book on quantum physics called, "The Quantum Enigma". I'm also really happy to hear from my old (only numerically) friends by email.
