Abby's Story
CHANGES-
Hello ex-classmates. This photo is of my two daughters- Shena,(now 23 moving to NYC after working and school in Seattle these last 6 years)and Daavia ( 18 (living in Holland with her father until further notice). She is hoping to go to the Utrecht MUZIEK Conservatoriums next year after struggling for 10 years in the Dutch school system. Other photos are of a Broadway musical review I produced/directed here with my world class Russian pianist friend Bella Tubejeva accompanying, and a photo of Daavia, then Shena with us traveling around Europe.
Sorry not to have made it to the 40th reunion for both 1969 graduating classes - Garfield and Roosevelt High Schools since both reunions looked like a lot of fun.
Some background since High school I acted/sang lead roles and chorus in over 30 plays/musicals, went to WWSU college (music),UW (drama) & graduated from San Francisco State University in theater Arts.
In SF I met first husband Chuck Sher in 76'at a Paul Horn workshop, who became a world renowned jazz music publisherafter we divorced in 1980. In SF I had the good fortune of studying jazz and classical singing with Bobby McFerrin, Mark Murphy,Roland Wyatt, Davida Kagan, and many others whi...Expand for more
le working as a singer/flutist/ actress/teacher,and performer in hit SF satirical review- THE DISTRACTIONS. I moved back to Seattle in 83' where I met and married Dutch auto mechanic/guitarist - Leo van Spronsen who then moved us to Whidbey Island where we lived with our 2 daughters until 1999 then to the Netherlands.
On Whidbey I directed the Whidbey Chorale and directed/produced/performed in a one woman show- On Being female, the Sound of Music, Amahl and the Night Visitors, the Secret Garden, Kismet, Van Spronsen Variety Showcase, Anything Goes,Grease/Hair hilites.
After trying hard to keep our DIFFICULT 24 year marriage together, we recently divorced, and I was very blessed to get a beautiful East Holland apartment for 55+ers to live in. I have also been blessed with many wonderful international friends and despite the formidable challenge of learning the Dutch language, empty nest, and being so far away from family and friends in the States, I really don't regret anything that has happened as I have learned A LOT. Now I find that even the hardest times were worthwhile.
When I can't do the performing arts any more I would like to paint portraits and/or write my memoirs which are pretty wild.
