After coordinating the Class of 85 20yr reunion, I figured out that most classmates thought of me as a bookworm and quiet. Boy I was far from that in those years. Although I had a few crushes, I didnt date anyone from our school throughout our 4yrs at HP. I had girlfriends from other nearby schools thanks to the kick ass PARTY LINE and having my 1962 VW Bug! LOL and eventually settled down with a Bell HS girl who is the mother of my one and only son. I often refer to my HS years like the movie Pretty in Pink or Sixteen Candles along with the New Wave soundtrack. I consider my HS years some of the BEST years of my life! Started to Dj in 1982/83 with Optica kept that going off an on throughout the years which later included being a part of some very huge LA events under the name Anatomy of Sound, with the likes of various clubs and promotion groups such as Giant, Spundae, The Palace, Avalon, Naked, Chemistry, and so many more. Now all the while, the dj/promotion stuff was just a weekend hobby. After HS I attended LA Trade Tech for a couple years and studied Architectural Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and in 1989 I had the good fortune of landing a job at McDonnel Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach. I was a Assembly Mechanic for a few years and worked on MD80s, MD90s, MD11s and the C17. I was then moved on to special projects thanks to management, to avoid the major layoffs at the company. I later was a part of the RAMS team on both military and commercial aircraft. RAMS stands for Recovery and Modification Services, which is basically a special team of Aircraft experts that are on 24hour call to fly anywhere around the globe to recover or modify aircraft. In 1997 Boeing bought out McDonnell Douglas and I was laid off from RAMS. I was hired back into the company by Technical Services as a Technical Writer. I became a Sr Tech Writer and eventually a Sr Quality Coordinator where I created and maintained one of the first Quality Matrix for ALL Aircraft Maintenance Manuals. Around 2000 Old paper publishing was becoming Digital and a new SGML authoring system was adopted by Boeing, so I was a part of that digital data initiation and conversion of all maintenance manuals. I was the ONLY person on staff who had any Aircraft Experience. In 2006 I was let go unexpectedly due to some serious political BS. I never realized the real reason for letting me go till a year later. They had some major flaws in that organization and made some extremely dangerous decisions that put millions of airplane passengers at risk! Anyway, they also killed my future of working in aerospace for a number of years. After making and saving that company millions of dollars for all my efforts, I was betrayed at the end. But thats the way it goes in large corporations. So after attempting to get in to many other aerospace companies, I would apply, get the call, have an excellent interview and being told in some cases I was perfect for the job, I would end up without a job and zero communication by the very people who had just interviewed me. can you say BLACKBALLED! In 2008 I finally found a job on the RailRoad, I waited a year for that job! You almost always have to know someone to land a job like that...Expand for more
