Adam's Story
Life
I purposely have always avoided social media, so this is one of the few bio's about me, by me, on the internet. If you are trying to track me down, I recommend stalking my wife :). If you know me well enough to find this, you should be able to figure it out.
In August 2003, I moved out to Arizona so I could work on my Master's Degree in Bioengineering at ASU. Finished defending my thesis in September 2005. In December 2005, I started working for a small, privately-owned accident reconstruction company in Tempe, AZ.
Rachel and I got married in September 2006, just after she finished her Master's at ECU. We bought a 40-year-old house which we lived in until 2011. The time between 2006 and 2011 was spent camping, hiking, climbing, rowing, drinking, and all-around enjoying life. We moved out a month after our first daughter, Elise, was born and drove to Maryland for my new job with US Navy Medical Logistics (yay for the cushy government job!). as long enough to see the birth of daughter #2, Nathalie. We bought another house in 2013. New construction this time, because we learned that old houses suck. And this new one is very close to being the lake house in the mountains with lots of trees which is our dream. Child #3 (first son), Gerrit, was born in 2015.
If you knew me primarily before college, then you probably don't know that I got into rowing, which became my biggest passion. I was on the NCSU Crew team. I rowed for a competitive club team for the 8 years I lived in Phoenix, and became a contender on a regional level in the SW United States. When we moved back east we bought a 1x (single scull), which I use on a weekly basis, weather permitting. I'm definitely not as competitive since becoming a dad, but I can accept that because my kids are awesome.
I brew my own beer. That's a hobby I started in 2010 in Arizona, but is much easier to do in a more temperate climate and with a basement. I'm pretty good at it now.
That's about it for now. I might update this again another 5 years from now - who knows.
