Adele's Story

Life I live in Damascus, MD with my husband, Neal, who has been with the Mont. Co. Police for almost 32 years, and the Rockville Motor Squad for the past 19. He graduated from Rockville HS in 1981. Our 31st anniversary is in October, and we have two sons ~ Eric 28, and Kyle 25. I enjoy antiquing, decorating, gardening, and cooking/grilling - everything from vegies to scallops! I have a wonderful vegetable garden and usually have so much, that I end up giving a lot of it away! I have tons of fresh herbs too, especially BASIL and MINT, my favorites! I do a lot of canning, so my garden keeps me busy once everything is ready for picking~Green beans, tons of zucchini & yellow squash, tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, salsa, and all kinds of pickles. Last year I made homemade spaghetti sauce that was cooked down on the gril for 7 hours and then put through a food mill to get every last drop of flavor - The best ever!!! Will definitely be making more this year - have 14 tomato plants, so I think we'll have a good supply. Neal did a similar thing with all our jalapeno and habanero peppers and we made an incredible hot sauce- more to come this year too as we more than doubled our number of hot pepper plants! My Favorite Things~ Country music and a good, cold beer - Honeybrown or Bud Light Lime - OR a stiff watermelontini is my escape - absolute heave...Expand for more
n! Oh and, by far, my favorite drink is from the Bonefish Grill - a Mocha Martini - it's a triple threat - you get the mocha - aka caffeine, the chocolate aka the Yum factor, and the alcohol all in one glass - Amazing! Football is coming and I can't wait to get my "weekend fix!" It's a shame it doesn't last as long as baseball season~which never seems to end!! I also love boating and snowmobiling. I love catching up with old friends and starting a new chapter in our friendship - sometimes life gets in the way and people drift apart or will find that they have, due to fate or unforseeable circumstances, "missed crossing paths" with some very special people. Making the most out of each opportunity is absolutely priceless. Two teachers I would like to see again would be Ms. Neidenberger, who was head of the English Dept. I was her aid and loved working with her - what a sweet lady she was, though I believe she passed away. Oh and Mr. Hassler, who gave me a hard time about "everything," but also took the time to "try and try again" to get ALGEBRA in my head~it never worked, but he never gave up on me and somehow I pulled a C in his class. To this day, algebra might as well be hieroglyphics! (Unfortunately, the same can be said for both of my boys - they both had a horrible time passing Algebra 2 - it was like high school all over again!)
