Aimee's Story
Life
I moved to Waco right after graduation where I stayed for 7 years while going to Baylor University. I changed majors a few times but ended up with a BSEducation in Computer Science.
I taught HS for 3 miserable years in Sealy & Missouri City & then moved back to Waco about a month and a half after our reunion in 2002. I worked as an Assistant Manager for McAlister's Deli in Waco for about 10 months.
I started Culinary School at the Art Institute of Dallas in January 2005. In August 2005 I was diagnosed with Arnold Chiari and I am still contemplating brain surgery, although right now I am trying to work with my doctors to treat my symptoms without it.
In November 2005 I was forced to leave Culinary School for medical reasons. I still want to go back some day... as while in culinary school I finally felt like I was where I was supposed to be.
I worked as a Pricing Analyst for Glazer's Distributors in the Trade Development - Chain Group for nearly two years before finally finding a way out of that backwards company. I'm currently working as an office manager for a medical sales company which sells spinal implants.
I am also studying for the GMAT and plan to start my Global MBA online from University of Texas Dallas this fall.
School
Our freshman year a...Expand for more
t NWA was my first year there. I had been in public school in the Galena Park ISD most of my life. While at NWA, I made some great friends and a few I still keep in contact with. After teaching for 3 years in public school, and remembering the happy days of my high school career, I have decided that I will not return to teaching until I can find a position in a small Christ-centered private school like the one we were privileged enough, and had parents willing to sacrifice enough to allow us to attend and graduate from NWA.
College
I started out at Baylor as a foresnic chemistry major until I decided that the sight of blood made me sick. Then on the advise of my mother, took a couple of accounting courses in the Business school. During that same semester I took a computer class and found my future. I quickly changed majors to Computer Science and worked on getting my teaching certificate to have something to fall back on. In 1997 & 1998 I also attended Texas State Technical College to get the Networking and Systems Administration part of computers that Baylor didn't offer. I graduated in 1998 and then went back to school for another year to take more Computer Science classes that weren't required for my education degree and finished my minor in American Sign Language.
