Alan H's Story
From the potato fields and one-room schoolhouse of Sagaponack to the hallowed halls of East Hampton High --- thence to the Ivy covered campus of Syracuse University. Next thing you know I was an officer and a Naval Aviator in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam flying helicopter gunships and emergency medevacs in 1966-67. After five years of rotary-wing flying, off to The Friendly Skies of United Airlines for 33 years flying transcons and Central American/ European destinations out of Dulles International in DC.
Retired in Virginia where I became a Board Member and later President of the USMC Combat Helicopter/Tiltrotor Association --- now serving as Historian for the same outfit. Other a...Expand for more
reas of interest are educational roles as a Master Naturalist in Virginia (VA Tech) --- finally applying my degree in the biological sciences and forestry for the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute and other conservation organizations in and around Virginia.
Designed and built homes in Sagaponack and Virginia. along with furniture design and construction from my Poorhouse Hollow Woodwerkes in Virginia. Married to Susan Wusthof (45 yrs) with four children and eleven grandchildren scattered up and down the eastern seaboard.
Last EHHS reunion attended was 1978 in Sag Harbor..Readying for a move to Lakewood Ranch near Sarasota, Florida at end of 2018. Love to hear from all of my classmates.
