Alan's Story
We had the normal animals: cattle, horses, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, cats, and dogs. When I was little, my best friends and my worst enemy were animals. My dog was the greatest; he went everywhere I went. We had a flock of turkeys with the most badass-tempered Tom you could ever imagine. I remember looking out the window to see if the Tom was in sight before I went outside. If he saw me, he would chase me back to the house or barn. e, so I picked up a stick (where it came from, I will never know), stopped, squinted my eyes, afraid to look and afraid not to look, turned around and hit the Tom on the side of his head. My mom, who was just coming out of the house after hearing my yells for help, said it was the funniest thing she had seen. Me hitting the Tom on the head, and then as the Tom turned to escape me, I was just running after him, beating him on his back. She said that was when she found out how fast I was chasing the Tom. From that point on, I ruled the yard, and the Tom left when I came around.
