Alan's Story
Life
Those who remember me from High School will know that cars (airplanes, motocycles and so forth) were (and are) a major part of my life, so will not be surprised to find that after 15 years working as an architectural designer doing mostly store interiors and store planning throughout the united states with my father, I returned to my first love and now operate a small restoration shop in Bellevue. I specialize in early Jaguar cars (50'-60's) and have been responsible for several national championship cars.
I married, in 1972, Jan Darst of Issaquah. We have two grown daughters, Ara and Lisa, both doing well. After having homes in kirkland, We moved to Duvall onto 20 acres in 1987 (talk about yard work) with horses and sheep and the requesite number of dogs, cats etc. that make country life what it is, and of course my sheds of cars and parts (which I am thinning down, there isn't enough time in a day for everything).
Cheers to all, and if you love old Jaguars or Studebakers drop a line.

Workplace
Since High School I have really only done two things. I spent 15 years doing interior design, store planning and office planning with jobs throughout the United States. This was a fun and fulfi...Expand for more
lling experience and I met and worked with many fine people and firms. We did jobs from small coffee houses up to 200,000 sqaure foot department stores and most every thing in between. Several shops in Bellevue Square were ours when it opened in 1980, although they are now gone or remodeled. We did law offices in highrises and pizza places on the lakefront.
In about 1990 I returned to my passion and began to restore and maintain classic English cars, concentrating on Jaguars of the 50's and 60's, as well as the occational Mustang, Studebaker and such, as long as the car is interesting, I will consider it.
Through the following years I have built several national championship cars and many great cars that the owners drive and love. I see no end to doing and loving this job, although it can be trying at times when something doesn't go quite as planned, but that's life - right?
I now work quietly from my home - doing cars and taking care of the farm anumals (horses and sheep) during the day.
Sadly, my wife of 40 years passed away early in 2013. Following her death, I totally retired, sold our 20 acre farm and moved to a very quiet life in Shelton late in 2015. Retired is not all it's cracked up to be
