Alan's Story
Workplace
After graduating from Murdock High in 1957 I worked at NHBB in NH. Joined the Marines in Jan 62 and became an aircraft electrican. Attained the rank of Sgt in 4 yrs. Honorable Discacharge in 1966. Attended Foothill Jr. College from 66-68. Earned AA degree in Aeronautics along with all of the necessary Commerical Flying Licenses to get a job flying commerical airplanes. Sept 68 I moved to Hawaii to fly for Sky Tours as a First Officer. In March 69 I got hired by Aloha Airlines as Pilot. Spent the next 30 1/2yrs. as pilot for Aloha....Expand for more
Flew as a Captain in B737's for the last 15 yrs. in that career. It had to be the best flying job in the world and I enjoyed every minute of it. Alos while at Aloha I served on many different committees with the Pilots' Union (ALPA). ex: Scheduling, negotiations, retirement, I was also the head of our local union for a short while and still fly my normal work schedule. I retired from Aloha Airlines in Sept. 99. Since than I have been retired so far have had a wonderful retirement but I still remain active on the Pilots' Retirement Committee.
