Alan's Story
Life
Just recently started a new position with CHP in IT. Currently just surviving COVID being annoyed that everything is still closed and can't enjoy much of anything. My kids are now 13 and 14 how time past from when we adopted them back in 2008. Love what I do and just signed a contract to get a pool installed in at the house we had built in 2015.
School
When it came to school I was the guy everybody used for my technology smarts and brawn but was never the guy anybody really hung around. The time I had a Mesa can never be replaced it was some of the happiest time in my life and some of the most enjoyable time I think a person can have. There was never any one teacher who inspired me more than another, all of the teachers at Mesa, that I had the pleasure to be in there classes were great.
College

e not dorms on campus and the school itself is in more of an office park than a regular campus. I majored in Telecommunications Management and received my BS in that field but since it is not really used anymore I am now pursuing a degree in Information Technology which is more of your networking of pc's instead of large mainframe systems. I have just recently finished a dual Associated degree at Sacramento City College in Networking and Network Security.
Workplace
After working as a Highway Patrol dispatcher for five years I moved over to the IT (Information Technology) side of CHP and was the onsite IT for the dispatch center. In May 2019 I moved to a new position at CHP headquarters and instead of being onsite IT for one location I became IT for 26 dispatch centers handling thousands of pieces of equipment. I just recently received another promotion into the Wide Area Network unit at CHP which involves working on equipment at hundreds of locations all throughout California.
