Alan's Story
Life
Life has traveled by anything but a straight-line course.
I have two, soon to be 21-year-old kids, one son and one daughter, from my first marriage and have a 6-year-old son by my current marriage. Having a child later in life has been a blessing as it has allowed me to revisit the wonders of fatherhood while having some of the insights and patience of a grandfather.
We are blessed to live in a comfortable home and to have the leisure to enjoy nature and the passage of time. We enjoy the seasons as experienced in Maryland and we spend much of our time in the outdoors. We enjoy hiking and tent camping activities year-round, but we most enjoy our canoeing expeditions. When not engaged in work or other outdoor activities I serve in several volunteer roles. Most notably as a Trustee for my synagogue, Oseh Shalom, and as a Committee person for my son's Cub Scout pack, 1673.
Workplace
Back in 9/85 I found myself recruited to the MetLife family of companies as an Insurance Agent. Within the year I had qualified to also offer investment securities. By 1989 I had successfully completed my CFP exam and have built a fee-based Financial Planning practice under the supervision of MetLife Securities Inc.
Military
No significant history here as the discovery of my colorblind eyes during my selection physical prevented my entry into the Airforce flight program.
