Alan's Story
Life
Got a BA at NYU, MD at Medical College of Wisconsin, and trained in internal medicine. Have been working as a specialist in Addiction Medicine since 1984, now semi-retired and recently downsized from a 14 room house (where both daughters and their partners lived with us at various times) to a 2 bedroom apartment in Providence RI. My wife Carol is a retired librarian and teacher, and I have two daughters, Eve 37 and Ruth 35 Ruth is a social worker, and is now with the Providence Community Health Center. Rhode Island. I think often of Williamsburg and Eastern District, and the painful lessons instilled by Mrs. Gold, Mrs. Wurzel, Mr Fishman and many others.
We have just moved to an assisted living facility in Providence, because of Carol's advancing Alzheimer's Disease, which although in late early (or early middle) stages continues to progress, and we were in need of memory enhanced services and 24 hour availability of help. We are making the adjustment, but we have a nice (but small) apartment with privacy, with all the services just available outside the door.
