Alana's Story
Life
Born in 1982, lived in Baton Rouge until i was twelve. Lived in Destrehan for about four years attended Destrehan high for two years, left at the beginning of my junior year. I moved to Metairie and attended Grace King High School. I graduated from there in 2000, and enrolled at the University of New Orleans. The summer of 2001 i got pregnant and had our first baby girl, Raeven Laila-Michelle, May 4, 2002. So on and so on. I graduated with a bachelor of science in exercise physiology in the spring of 2005. I began teaching in New Orleans for fall of 2005, then Katrina came. I moved to Shreveport, LA and then to Jacksonville, FL. I moved back to Shreveport, LA in order to finish school. I started teaching full time and then got married on November 24, 2007. And we just welcomed our newest baby girl, Myla Lyann-Jaquel, on August 8, 2009.
School

College
2000-began first semester of college at the university of new orleans, lived in privateer place.
2001-was inducted into an honor society, finished my first year living at privateer place. Got pregnant that july and moved into the dormitory as an resident assistant in august.
2002-left resident assistant assignment a few weeks early to have my little girl and moved back home over the summer
2003-Spent mornings at home with Raeven, nights at school taking classes, weekends at work trying to pay my bills.
2004-Normal school hours, Raeven goes to daycare, and I work in between, but only one year left.
2005-graduation and i'm out this piece! And outta New Orleans (thanx katrina!)
Workplace
I have been working with very small breaks between employment since my senior year in high school. Burger King, University of New Orleans, Toys R Us, Best Buy, teaching, substituting, tutoring. And now I am working as a high school math teacher, and enjoying every minute of it.
