Albert's Story
Life
Captain Albert J. Grecco is a native of Poughkeepsie, New York. He is a 1982 graduate of the United States Naval Academy where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and was commissioned.
Captain Grecco's first assignment was USS KING (DDG 41) where he served as Gunnery Officer and TERRIER Missile Officer and completed a 1984 deployment to the Persian Gulf. He entered the Weapon Systems Engineering program at the Naval Postgraduate School, became an Engineering Duty Officer, and graduated in 1988 with a Masters of Science in Engineering Science.
Captain Grecco has served in acquisition billets in both headquarters and the field. He served as a Project Officer at the Naval Ship Weapon Systems Engineering Station where he led the Developmental Testing of Mk 92 Mod 6 Firecontrol system on USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61). His headquarter assignments have included tours as Technical Director for the NAVSEA Surveillance Systems Subgroup (SEA 62X), and as a Ship Self-Defense Systems Engineer in the Program Executive Office, Theater Air Defense.
Captain Grecco returned to sea to serve as Combat Systems Officer, USS TICONDEROGA (CG 47) where he completed a 1995 deployment to Sixth Fleet and conducted EASTPAC counter-narcotic operation...Expand for more

He subsequently served as the first Combat Systems Officer for the DD 21 Program in the Program Executive Office, DD 21 and Associated Programs, and in the Program Executive Office, Theater Surface Combatants as the AEGIS Shipbuilding Combat Systems, Test and Trials Officer (PMS 400D5) and AEGIS Combat Systems Engineer (PMS 400B3). He subsequently served as the DD(X) Warfare Systems Engineer in the Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems. Captain Grecco's was most recently assigned as the Program Manager and Technical Director for the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System where his program acrued an unequaled record of successful exoatmospheric intercepts to include the satellite shootdown of a failed U. S. reconnaissance satellite that posed a danger to population centers. He is currently assigned as the Program Manager for Integrated Combat Systems in the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems.
Captain Grecco's personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy Commendation Medal with three gold stars, Navy Achievement Medal, and NATO medal. He is married to the former Lacy Williams of Norfolk, Virginia and has two daughters.
