Albert's Story

Before I came to Prairie I had been attending an old line liberal church. The fall that I attended Prairie I came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior. My life took a complete change. Still had a number of issues that needed to be dealt with but I now had a resource in Christ that wasn't there before. When I applied to come to Prairie I had to fill out some background information about myself just like everyone else only I didn't understand what a "testimony" was. I asked my mother if she knew what a testimony looked like and from her description I understoad it to mean as list of things I did in the church and such. I have always been very involved in church i.e., sang in the choir, led a boys club, was young peoples president, etc. etc. My younger brother applied at the same time. I was accepted and my brother wasn't. The fact that my brother wasn't accepted made my father very angry with the school. Remember, we had been attending a very liberal church and he thought to himself 'who were they to judge my brother's spiritual state?' I was allowed to attend anyway. After asking Christ into my heart, I wrote a letter home to tell my family about my personal experience with Christ. I didn't cast doubt or blame on anyone else in my family, but my father sent a scorcher of a letter in reply. Who did I think I was? I was no better than anyone else in the family! I would regret the day that I attended Prairie! etc. etc. Personally, I will never regret going to Prairie. My experience there with Christ was the best thing that ever happened to me. The reason that I didn't...Expand for more
return for Bible School was that I had started a relationship with one of the female students and I knew PBI's stand on having relationships with the opposite sex on campus. I ended up going to another evangelical Bible school. In the mean time, my relationship with this gal broke down and I was crushed. I began sharing my feelings with a buddy that I had met at this other school. I only went for one year to this Bible school and then went back home to work in the forests as a logger. I continued to communicate with my buddy. Wouldn't you know it, my ex-girl friend left Prairie and went to the same school that I had been attending. Secondly, wouldn't you again know it, my buddy started dating my ex. He didn't realize until later that she was the one that I had been talking with him about. To make a long story shorter, they got engaged and married each other and the last I heard live here in the Fraser valley. God Bless them both. I wished the the best! I later attended a small Bible school here in the Fraser valley and there I met my future wife. This year we will be celebrating 41 years of marriage. We have 3 adult children and 4 wonderful grandchildren. All of our children have accepted Jesus as their Savior and are serving the Lord together with their family. We all attend the same church and my wife and I are elders in our church. I am so blessed by the Lord and am very thankful that I was allowed to attend Prairie High School. Oh, by the way, my brother that was refused acceptance at Prairie did get saved and he too has a wonderful Christian family. God is so good!!
