Alberto's Story
Life
I was born in Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico in 1978. I attended kinder, first and second grade there. That's when my parents decided to come to the U.S., live in L.A. and try to make it a better life for their children.
We lived near the intersection of Virgil and Santa Monica so Lockwood Elementary School was my place to learn the English language. By the fourth grade I was already getting in trouble and getting remarks in my report card like "talks too much"! Funny how the immigrant kid was doing all the talking right? I remember even shooting a rubberband to Ms. Ocuma's butt and got in trouble. I also remember touching girl's behinds and then running!!! Those were the days...
I then went to King Jr. high and that's when I got into more trouble! I discovered girls and tagging and ditching and forging notes! I remember a kid names Frank who was Korean and German and he used to steal money from his mom! We used to do a lot with that money. More good days!

ter friends. One of the best moments of my life is actually seeing my mom so proud when I graduated. I met many people, but didn't get to know them. weird...
After high school I partied and worked for about -- too long! I went to L.A.C.C. but because I didn't have U.S. residency, I was unable to go to college. I was able to get an A.A. though.
My parents got divorced also after high school. About a year later my sister decided to live with my dad and my mom found a boyfriend! Lousy year, but this is what made me get my own place. So, at 20 years old I was on my own and boy did I get into more trouble! Life is good...
Today I think I am almost there. I think I'm in the brink of getting it together. I'm even thinking about kids! That is after I get my debts paid. I can say I am way more conscious of how life is going and feel at one with "the moment".
So, I've been married, been to jail, and somehow some way stayed single and with no kids. I'm 26 now, single, and loving life! I work as a travel agent, travel almost every year, and I just joined a gym! I know, L.A. can get to you.
